Wedding Invitations Curated to Tell Your Story Frequently asked questions How many invitations should you order? The general rule is to order one invitation per household, couple, or individual guest—not one per single invitee. We highly recommend ordering 5 to 10 extra copies for any last-minute guest additions or potential mailing issues. Keeping a few on hand is also a wonderful idea if you want to save a copy as keepsakes for your memory boxes, albums, or scrapbooks. What information should you include on your wedding invitations? Your wedding invitations should clearly state the essential details of your big day while reflecting on your event’s formal, semi-formal, or casual tone. Every invite should include: The Host: Names of the people hosting or paying for the wedding (e.g., the couple, parents, or “together with their families")A request to join the ceremonyThe Couple: Full names of the couple getting married The Date and Time: Spelled out formally (e.g., "Saturday, the tenth of October, two thousand twenty-six, at three o'clock in the afternoon") to avoid formatting confusion.The Location: The venue, city, and state (or country for destination weddings) To keep your main invitation clutter-free, we recommend moving optional details to a matching enclosure card. These often include: A QR code or link to your wedding websiteAccommodation and transportation notesA dress codeSpecial event requests (e.g., child-free or unplugged ceremonies) When is the best time to send your wedding invitations? We recommend sending your wedding invitations 6 to 8 weeks before the big day. This generous window gives your guests plenty of time to mark their calendars and make travel arrangements while keeping your festivities top-of-mind. For destination weddings, or if save the dates were not sent, you should aim to mail invites 3 to 4 months in advance. Plan to order your invitations at least 4 months before your wedding day, allowing time for design review, professional printing, shipping, and extra time for assembly and addressing. While we don't currently offer digital invitations, we do have free digital save the dates that can be shared via text, email, or QR code. Feel free to pair your complimentary digital save the dates with matching invitations and a coordinated wedding website (also free!) At The Knot, you can choose from an impressive collection of physical wedding invitations available in a variety of print and foil designs. We believe there’s nothing quite like the feeling of holding a paper invite in your hands. How do you create a QR code on your wedding invitations? You can add a QR code to your stationery using The Knot's design editor. Once you've chosen your design, click the "Personalize" button. In the editor side panel to the left, look for the "QR code" option. Simply enter the URL you want to link , and a QR code will be generated automatically. You can then insert, resize and position it anywhere on your wedding invitation. We recommend placing it on the back of the invitation or on an enclosure card to keep your main design clean. Does The Knot offer guest address printing? Yes! The Knot offers professional envelope printing services to save you the time and energy of addressing by hand. Add printed envelopes to your order: We'll match your envelopes to your customized design. Don't worry if you don't have your guest list ready yet; you can always send your addresses to us later! Send us your address list: After placing your order, we will email a link to upload your guest list and address information. Use our spreadsheet template to organize your list. Use this designated help page to help you fill out your spreadsheet before you email it to help@theknot.com.   Finalize your envelopes: Once we receive your list, we'll send you a digital proof of all your envelopes. Please review every name and address before we head to print.  Don't worry if you don't have your guest list ready after you order; you can always send your addresses to us later!
